Definition and Description of Anal cancer

Anal cancer -Anal cancer is a rare form of cancer that affects the anus. The anus is the inch-and-a-half-long end portion of the large intestine, which opens to allow solid waste to exit the body. Another part of the large intestine, including the colon and rectum.

Cancer occurs when cells in the body (in this case the cells that cover the lumen of the anus) divide without control or order. Normally, cells divide in a regulated way. If cells keep dividing uncontrollably when new cells are not needed, a mass of tissue forms, called a growth or tumor. Cancer refers to malignant tumors, which can invade nearby tissues and spread to other parts of the body. A benign tumor does not invade or spread.

Different cancers can develop in various parts of the anus, the part that is in the body and parts beyond. Sometimes the abnormal changes of the anus is not dangerous in the early stages but later they may develop into cancer. Some anal warts, for example, contains areas of precancerous and can develop into cancer.

.Squamous carcinomas your. About half of anal cancer is squamous cell carcinoma, which arises from the cells that line the anal canal and anal margin. Anal margin is part of the anus which is half inside and half outside the body, and the anal canal is part of the anus that is in the body. The earliest form of squamous cell carcinoma is known as carcinoma in situ, or Bowen's disease.

Cloacogenic carcinoma. Approximately one-quarter to one-third of the tumors were squamous anal cloacogenic. This tumor develops in the transition zone, or cloaca, which is a ring of tissue between the anal canal and rectum.
